On January 30, Children’s Institute broke ground on a new Watts Campus designed pro bono by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. The new building will serve as a hub for South Los Angeles families and add an iconic landmark to the historic neighborhood. To celebrate the event, CII held a ceremony attended by 300 guests including Frank Gehry, LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Councilmember Joe Buscaino.

‘Sustainability Park’ Project at Discovery Cube Gets $5 Million From State Budget

A science museum in Sylmar will get a $5 million cut of the state budget to build an exhibit to teach children about what can be done to help fight climate change, a local assemblywoman said Friday.

The allocation in the budget just signed by Governor Gavin Newsom benefits the Discovery Cube Los Angeles, which features educational exhibits on various science topics, and will go toward constructing a “sustainability park.”
